Factory Layout & Greenfield Design

Factory planning through &diligence

Plan the factory around the flow of work

A factory layout connects production requirements with the space, equipment and movement needed to deliver them. Through &diligence, SEREDIUM supports manufacturers with factory redesign and greenfield factory design and setup, alongside productivity improvement and capacity expansion.

Redesign an existing factory

Existing facilities often need to accommodate new products, greater volumes or additional equipment. Start with the constraints that make the current layout difficult to operate: long material routes, crowded work areas, disconnected operations or limited room for expansion.

A useful redesign brief explains both the production target and what must stay in place. Share the available floor plan, key equipment locations, movement routes and any restrictions on changing the facility.

Plan a greenfield facility

A new factory creates an opportunity to consider production flow before the layout is fixed. Define the product mix, expected volumes, process sequence, major equipment and future expansion needs early in the discussion.

Bring together the requirements for incoming material, production, work in progress, finished goods and dispatch. The aim of the initial conversation is to clarify what the facility needs to accommodate and which assumptions still need to be resolved.

Keep capacity and automation in the same conversation

Layout decisions affect how people, material and equipment interact. If the project includes new machines or automation, identify those requirements alongside the factory plan so interfaces and space needs can be discussed together.

What to include in your enquiry

Tell us whether this is an existing factory, a relocation or a greenfield project. Include the site location, available area, products, target capacity and intended timeline. If you have a floor plan or equipment list, mention that these are available to share.

What if the production plan is still evolving?

You can begin with the decisions already made and the questions still open. Clearly separate confirmed requirements from assumptions, especially expected volumes, product mix and future phases.
